Work with the CORE UNIX team on the following UNIX infrastructure systems and technologies.
• UNIX/Linux System Administration
• UNIX Email technologies such as Postfix, Procmail, Sendmail, etc.
• DNS and NIS.
• Network and Systems Monitoring using NAGIOS.
• Unix Systems Audit Process
• Network and Serial Console Systems.
Responsible for installing and configuring Solaris and Linux Operating Systems on a new hardware using standard images available. Implements system enhacements using PERL, and UNIX SHELLs such as Bourne or c-shell programming languages that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of current and forthcoming Unix and Windows technologies, protocols, and concepts including Directory Services (LDAP/Active Directory), NIS, DNS, MySQL, networking and file sharing protocols including TCP/IP, NFS, iSCSI, FTP, CIFS/SMB, SMTP/POP3 (Sendmail/Postfix and MS Exchange), Console services, High Availability and Clustering, etc.
Requires strong inter-personal and communication skills along with the ability to multi-task and solve problems. Able to schedule, prioritize, accomplish Information Technology related activities and communicate actions and results as needed. Previous experience in customer support, computer operations, systems administration or another related area is required. Proficiency with all aspects of UNIX system administration and experience with network operations is preferred.
BS in Computer or Information Science with 4-5 years or MS with 2-3 years of experience in Information Technology as a Unix Systems administrator is required. Advanced knowledge and significant experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, Mail, FTP, DNS, NIS, MySQL are required.
