Title: Graphics specialist
Location: San Jose, CA or Richardson, or Raleigh-Durham
Duration: 12+ months

Seeking a graphic designer with both web and print experience to grow with us as we build the next generation, web-based technical training platform. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated entry or associate-level professional with a strong sense of design, and a willingness to learn the current print business while assisting the transition to a web-based, digital learning platform. The Graphic Specialist will be responsible for the creation and application of templates (print and digital), attention to corporate branding requirements, creating illustrations, developing and maintaining design icons, and visual delivery formats including print, elearning, rich media, and web-based training. He or she will effectively communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure high standards of visual design with attention to detail. The candidate must be capable of taking direction and working in a fast-paced environment from concept to production.

Responsibilities:
Apply professional graphic design and layout principles to the creation of print documents, web-based training, and other technical content products.
Update and create new graphics for existing digital delivery and web sites. (Prepare graphics to hand off to HTML developers who will code the site)
Uses design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) to execute ideas and prepare files for both electronic and print usage.
Develop creative briefs by gathering information and data to clarify project objectives and overall design issues.
Work directly with development, instructional design, and UI teams to design visual content aimed at maximizing revenue and meeting emerging needs.
Assist with the planning and production of visual content assets for multiple products across all online media.

Requirements:
2-3 years of experience as a graphic design, publishing, documentation, web and/or technical training. Digital experience highly desirable.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Micrososft PowerPoint, Creative Adobe Suite.
Designing HTML/ CSS interfaces a plus. Understanding of or work in XML environment a highly desired, but not required.
Experience with VODs and/or video editing a plus.
Accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail a must.
Must be flexible and able to handle fluctuations in schedule and demand.
A strong understanding the differences between web & print design with a comfort in each.
Proficiency in using Word templates and applying styles, formatting, creating table of contents, and preparoing PDF output.
Thorough knowledge of visual design principals; graphic design,layout, typography, color, icon development, corporate identity and branding.
Ability to create printed materials (learning materials for technical training), slide presentations, and story boards.
Experience in executing the day-to-day production and design of projects as specified by in-house clients, developers and QA team members.
Must be exceptionally organized, self-motivated, deadline-oriented and an effective at communicating.
Must be able to work well as part of a team, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
