[KITlist-Tech] Software Engineer, Technical Partnerships (Data) (San Mateo, CA)

Please direct your responses to: http://careers.tableausoftware.com

Tableau Software is one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world, with nearly 100% annual sales growth. Tableau makes fast analytics and visualization products that help people see and understand data of any size or format. The company is on its way to becoming a large, market-defining company in the business intelligence industry and is next in a long line of high profile Stanford spinouts (e.g., Google, Yahoo, VMWare). Customers of all sizes use our products, from Fortune 500 companies, to video game designers, to scientists in the jungles of Central America, to high school principals. Our software is for anyone with data and questions! Additionally, Tableau's web products (www.tableaupublic.com) are used by bloggers, journalists, and major media web sites to share data online as interactive visualizations. Check out our products at: www.tableausoftware.com/products/tour.

Tableau's culture is casual yet high energy. We are passionate about our product and loyal to each other and our company. We value work/life balance, efficiency, simplicity, freakishly friendly customer service, and making a difference in the world. Tableau offers exceptional professional and financial growth potential.

What you'll be doing…
Tableau's products are highly visual and interactive. You will be expanding and enhancing the data handling capabilities of Tableau's analytical product suite for partner companies. You're a "data geek" that has a deep passion for data and building robust, scalable and high-performance systems for working with large, diverse sets of data and allowing people to answer complex questions about that data. You will be working on a system that speaks natively to dozens of database platforms, enabling individual users and enterprises to rapidly explore their data and author insightful visualizations. You will take on challenging products such as adding support for the newest data technologies, ranging from brand-new hybrid databases to NoSQL platforms to big-data stores. You will do all of this while working with a team that cares deeply about expressive, direct, and simple user interfaces.

Who you are…
You are a top-notch developer, with at least three years of experience, who loves data. You love working with external teams to take two powerful technologies, combine them, and make something even better. You're also a guru in all things data: relational databases, data warehousing, OLEDB and/or ODBC, etc. You love to code and have a passion for solving complex problems. You write tests for your code as a way to maintain high quality. You understand what it takes to write software that is used by thousands, even millions, of people. You love products that "just work" – that are robust, scalable, and perform well. You enjoy collaborating, learning from your colleagues, and teaching others. You have solid development skills with object oriented languages like C++ or Java, as well as SQL experience. It's a bonus if you're familiar with MDX. Finally, if you revel in jumping on timely opportunities to create something really great, then you'll love our team.
