Lucene/Solr Community Manager is a self-motivated individual who will work closely with Engineering and Marketing groups to build and grow a vibrant community; and ensure an appreciation and understanding of the community´s requirements. This position represents the intersection between the Apache Lucene/Solr community and Lucid Imagination. The Community Manager will work closely with Product Management, Operations and Engineering to build and grow a thriving Lucene/Solr open source community. This position reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer for Lucid Imagination.
Position Description
• The Community Manager will understand when to actively engage with the community and how to connect disparate groups with compatible goals. Serving as a key member of the marketing team you will define and implement an Open Source Community Plan.
• Serve as a Lucene/Solr evangelist and community advocate
• Be a focus point for community input
• Create, initiate and drive tactics targeting users, evangelists, universities/colleges, open source projects and community influencers
• Actively participate in on-line forums and newsgroups
• Manage the community website
• Establish metrics that track health of the community (i.e.mail list, blogs and social activity)
• Track competitive projects like Elastic Search, etc. and report back to Lucid Mgmt.
• Deliver presentations at external open source events and to internal teams
• Organize and manage meetups, hackathons and other community forums
• Manage presence at open source related conferences that generate momentum and engagement
• Coordinate community responses with various Lucid Project Leads and Committers
• Actively manage Lucene Revolution conference program
• Build an innovative set of online and social media marketing programs to connect with Lucene/Solr developers and other technical audiences
• Develop developer-facing materials and content for the community website
Position Requirements:
• International experience (working in or with multi-cultural environments)
• Knowledge of the open source community and developers who participate in open source projects is critical
• Working knowledge of Lucene/Solr
• Thorough knowledge of the software market, open source key players and projects
• Knowledge of website CMS and social networking tools
• Track record of innovative campaign and programs execution to deliver measurable progress in developer satisfaction and community growth
• Search application development a plus

• Capable of networking at all levels within the community
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral
• Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Self-starter, high energy, with the ability to execute on community objectives
• The ability to multi-task, change priorities rapidly and work under pressure

• University level education desirable, or equivalent
