Senior Web Developer | Pac-12 Digital
Join the Pac-12 and help lead the development of Pac-12.com and our TV Everywhere live video streaming experiences. As Senior Web Developer, you will have the opportunity to influence product functionality, architecture, systems, and evolve our agile development process. We are focused on data driven products and experimentation for swift learning. Our developers are generalists comfortable tweaking an nginx config, tuning a linux kernel, defining the object model, refining a mysql query, or optimizing css selectors.
Responsibilities:
Drive architecture and technical design for Pac-12 digital products.
Build and maintain our web applications and infrastructure with emphasis on video including TV Everywhere and mobile web.
Coordinate development efforts with product managers, on-staff, and contract developers.
Plan, estimate, develop, and deploy updates and new site functionality.
Write exemplary, well-tested code.
Participate in peer code reviews.
Support site operations and respond to performance issues.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Deep experience with high-performance Drupal (7) sites and Drupal development technologies such as Drush, Features, Panels, and Context.
5+ years web development experience using technologies including Drupal, Zend Framework, PHP, Python, MySQL, Javascript (Jquery), HTML5, and CSS3.
Experience using Git.
Expertise with Linux (Ubuntu) and cloud hosting environments.
Caching, scaling, and front-to-back performance best practices using jmeter, memcache, nginx, and varnish.
Experience building and consuming RESTful web services.
Agile Development and Continuous Integration using tools such as Jenkins, SimpleTest, Selenium, etc.
Fearlessly willing to leverage the latest cutting-edge web technologies, strong belief that simplicity trumps complexity in most circumstances, and comfortable with the fact that practicality beats purity.
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Building and maintaining Content Management Systems (CMS).
Configuration management with Puppet, Chef, Fabric, or Capistrano.
Mobile Development for Web, iPhone and/or Android.
Data Driven Product Development using experimentation, A/B, and multivariate testing.
Experience with Apache Solr.
NoSQL with CouchDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
Monitoring and performance diagnostics to troubleshoot production systems.
