Senior Software Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Architect, design and develop system software for next generation RFID reader products, based on embedded Linux OS and ARM processor platform.
• Work closely with software and hardware designers through all phases of product development to ensure successful system operation, compatibility and best-in-class design.
• Create architecture and design documentation.
Skills/Requirements
• Proven record and demonstrated expertise in device/board bring-up including building and porting Linux kernels, boot loaders and file systems.
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces used in complex devices.
• 5+ years of embedded Linux kernel and device driver development. Boot loaders/Board Support Packages (BSP), flash file systems, cross platform development and debugging.
• Experience working with digital design engineers and expertise building Linux systems for ARM based or equivalent architectures.
• Experience working with cross-compilation tool-chains, debug and system emulation environments.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience designing and programming for real time embedded systems, and integrating software for SoC architectures.
• Experience setting up and maintaining cross-compilation tool chains, debuggers and hardware emulation environments/tools.
• Experience using On-Chip-Debuggers (OCD/ICE) – JTAG, GDB, KGDB, network analyzers and packet sniffers, knowledge of interaction between hardware and firmware.
• Strong C/C++ skills and advanced Linux system software development experience is a must.
• Strong hands-on experience writing shell scripts for Linux.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, ability to analyze complex sub/system problems.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and schedules is a must.
• The candidate must be highly self-motivated to work independently as well as be team-focused to investigate new approaches and technologies, and bring ideas to the table in a fast paced software development group.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to document code, specs and procedures.
• TCP/IP stack and common networking protocols.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
• Mobile applications development experience is a plus (Android, Linux, Windows Mobile). 802.11abgn wireless technology, Bluetooth, USB.
Education
• BS/MS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field and 10+ years of experience in embedded system development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
