We´re looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team. The Linux Systems Administrator will report directly to the Sr. Director of IT.
The Linux Systems Administrator at Whitehat has the responsibility to do the following:
•Install new systems and deliver servers quickly and most importantly accurately.
•Assist in the management, installation, configuration, and debugging for related services, including working with hardware configurations, routing configuration, network configuration, and DNS maintenance.
•Proactively troubleshoot complex production system problems that may have high impact and wide scope.
•Configure and tune system and network parameters for optimum performance.
•Monitor system stability and performance.
•Help develop tools to build, maintain, and monitor systems.
•Rapidly scale systems to meet demand. ( This is key, we need people who thrive on automation and build systems with the future in mind )
•Participate in architecture decisions.
•Write comprehensive documentation.
Requirements:
•3-5+ years as a Linux administrator
•2+ years as a Sr. Unix/Linux administrator
•1-2 yrs VMWare deployment and configuration experience
•Worked with RHEL/CentOS 4/5/6 and preferably Ubuntu/Debian servers
•Knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, SAN and architecture required.
•PXE/Kickstart server experience, Linux repository maintenance
•Perl and Shell scripting.
•Experience with HP Blades and Proliant servers and the patching of these systems.
•Solid grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
•Very important to be security minded and know how to lock down systems and services.
•Outstanding troubleshooting ability.
•Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills.
•Ability to lift up to 60lbs (racking servers)
Extra skills that are a plus:
•Knowledge of Nagios, Cacti, or similar snmp based system.
•Hadoop and memcache experience.
•Puppet experience is a plus.
•Multiple years of experience in fast-paced high-availability production environments (e.g. ISPs, ASPs, SaaS, etc.) with an emphasis on remote "lights-out" management of systems in remote co-lo facilites.
•Expertise in administration of web servers, load balancers, etc
•Storage Administration (Isilon, LeftHand ISCSI),
•Network Administration and a knowledge of vlans, routes, STP.
