Description:
The Network Engineer role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by supporting local area networks (LANs), wireless local area networks (WLAN) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization, globally if required. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network issues in a timely accurate fashion and esculate when required. The position will also require partnering with Sr. Network Engineers to resolve issues and concerns.
• Level of experience 2-4 years
• Under supervision of Sr. Network Engineers, manage and deploy company LANs, WANs, and WLAN networks including routers, hubs, switches, and other hardware.
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
• Troubleshoot as required with Sr. Network Engineers
• IPAM(IP Address Management) utilizing InfoBlox database
• Provide Tier I technical support interfacing with Cisco and other vendors
• On-call rotation with peers (including Sr. Network Engineers). Includes handling daily on-call duties
• Must exhibit the ability to ensure network stability by utilizing network management tool set, such as Cisco works, VitalSuite and NGenius
• Adherence to Change Management processes and comfort level communicating/presenting a change at a regularly scheduled IT change review meeting
• Oversee stability of new and existing equipment – hardware and software
• Ability to interact with carriers to resolve WAN networking issues
• Performs technical analysis and reports fact findings to Sr. Network Engineer
• Configure network to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
• Ability to maintain network asset management database, including maintenance of network component inventory related documentation
• Perform switch, router, miscellaneous network appliance(e.g. wireless controllers, application acceleration devices such as WAAS) builds for mass new deployments or upgrades to existing field components
• Key Relationships: Partner with Sr. Network Engineers within the company. Must be able to interface with management at all levels. Establishment of solid working relationships with"Run" and "Plan/Build" in other sister Infrastructure area (i.e. Windows Systems Administration, Windows System Engineering) will be essential.
Must have experience:
• Communication with tele-companies
• Good communications skills
• Utilizing network management toolset, such as Ciscoworks, VitalSuite and NGenius
• Good to have cisco background
• Nice to have IPAM experience
