Position Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on, results-oriented, and quality-focused individual with strong skills in JavaScript, CSS and Java, and solid experience architecting or developing web applications. As a member of the Software Architecture team, this individual will ensure the long term reliability, scalability and maintainability of the Hotwire site. They will play an active role in framework development, software design reviews, technology assessments, and the development of processes and knowledge to enable the software engineering team to effectively and flexibly scale the Hotwire system.

Responsibilities:
•Create and maintain frameworks, tools and processes that enable and enforce UI coding standards, developer productivity and code maintainability
•Collaborate with application developers, business owners, and operation engineers to ensure the creation of production-quality designs and implementations
•Evangelize the importance of the customer experience as it relates to application development
•Develop and document a technology roadmap through collaboration between application architects, UI design and business teams
•Serve as a final point of escalation for UI-related functional and performance issues
•Manage multiple tasks and changing business requirements in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:
•Expert-level ability in core JavaScript (object oriented experience preferred)
•Advanced skills in HTML5 and DOM APIs
•Advanced knowledge of 3rd party JavaScript libraries (YUI, JQuery)
•CSS expertise (including CSS3)
•Experience with Java presentation layer frameworks (Struts, Spring MVC)
•Familiarity with templating technologies (such as JSP, Tiles, Freemarker, SiteMesh)
•Prior experience as a software architect a strong plus

Work Experience and Education Guidelines:
•7+ years in web UI development
•BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
•Travel and/or other Internet commerce experience is a plus

•Ability to work cross-departmentally with user experience designers, software developers and product owners
•Proactive, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver
•Ability to balance long term goals against immediate concerns in the areas of code maintainability, developer productivity and the customer experience
•Strong leadership with ability to motivate and teach engineers
•Strong communication skills and ability to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical audience
•Excellent communication, mentoring and problem solving skills
