Wind River, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation, seeks an experienced technical writer to create documentation for its Wind River Linux development platform.
Responsibilities:
- You will write user-centric, task-oriented operating system documentation for a software developer audience, ideally for developers in a cross-development environment.
- You will develop new content (including step-by-step procedures and scripts for video tutorials) and update existing material to enable customers who develop Wind River Linux-based software for a wide variety of embedded devices. You will work in DITA XML, so familiarity with XML is highly desirable.
- You will interview subject-matter experts, participate in review meetings, liaise with a vibrant user community, and collaborate with technical writers and subject-matter experts in various geographic locations to create and update content.
Minimum qualifications:
- BA, BS, or equivalent in a technical field of study (such as computer science, electrical engineering, or math) or equivalent work experience
- 5 or more years of experience writing documentation for software development on Linux-based systems
-Experience using the Linux command line as well as an integrated development environment (such as Eclipse) to compile and debug code in order to verify tutorials and procedures
- Familiarity with common build tools such as make and the GNU autotools
- Experience developing relevant code samples and configuration examples
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of the Linux operating system, including application and kernel development, as well as administration
- Familiarity with Yocto project and open source development tools and methodology.
-Experience in a cross-development environment for embedded devices
- Familiarity with programming languages (C/C++, Python, Perl, or scripting)
- Experience with DITA XML authoring and content migration
- Ability to work with colleagues across geographic locations and time zones (e.g. Europe and Asia) and flexibility in working hours to accommodate meetings with them
- Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Acrobat
- Familiarity with Jira, Rally, git or SVN
