Scientific Software Developer
Guardant Health is working in next-generation sequencing application for cancer diagnostics, operating in a CAP and CLIA-certified clinical laboratory. We invite you to join this fast-paced and exciting team. Join us and help us solve significant challenges in cancer research.
The Scientific SW Developer identifies the appropriate technologies or programming languages during the design phase based on the purpose of the software needed by Guardant Health. The SW Developer will address software usability requirements during the design phase while incorporating feedback from key stakeholders in the design process to ensure that the design meets expectations. The SW Developer will research the availability of community-accepted data standards as inputs and outputs for their program(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
��� Develop high-quality, production-grade programs
��� Develop high-quality scripts where necessary
��� Participate in brainstorming sessions and make specifications
��� Acquire, modify, run open-source and other programs
��� Participate in benchmarking algorithms
��� Communicate with various departments in understanding their software needs
��� Develop and maintain rigorous software discipline
��� Work with different groups including LIMS, IT, and Biology
��� Write documentation, keep accurate records, and ensure IP integrity, ownership, and compliance.
��� Other duties as assigned based on Company needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
��� Ph.D., or M.S. in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or related fields
��� Expert in C/C++. Knowledge of Java a plus
��� Expert in Linux
��� Expert in implementing complex algorithms from high-level specifications
��� Expert in software lifecycle and source control
��� Working knowledge of Windows/Mac environments
��� Working experience of parallel programming
��� Working knowledge of data analysis
��� Working knowledge of databases and standard queries
��� Working knowledge of schedulers
��� High written and oral fluency communication skills in English
��� Knowledgeable in Cloud computing concepts and Cloud-based services

��� Familiar with design-for-testability concepts
��� Knowledge of statistics is a plus
��� Familiarity with genomics and related fields is a plus
��� Familiarity with NGS is a plus
