AMD is looking for a senior software performance engineer for an exciting role in ISV Engineering. This person will work with open source developers and projects in enabling and optimizing cloud computing applications. They will interact closely with the different software teams, both inside and out of AMD, to ensure the best possible performance and results on AMD platforms. This person will influence performance with current-generation hardware as well as evangelize and help implement features for next-generation architectures. They will work with the latest technology working hand-in-hand with strategic customers and/or open-source projects.

An important part of this role will be to support, evangelize, and influence AMD platforms by working with the open source community You will develop and optimize applications, create technical demos, write whitepapers and present your work at conferences. Through collaboration with external software developers, you will help to optimize their products using AMD technology.

Job Duties Include:

- Driving cloud performance & scalability optimization at our cloud partners through open source projects
- Perform detailed performance analysis of workloads to identify and prioritize AMD efforts.
- Define and expose metrics that can improves performance, scalability, and availability
- The identification of technical opportunities for new business and/or directions in cloud computing.
- Helping to define and support AMD´s cloud computing strategy and roadmap development, from a technical perspective, including identification of potential opportunities/obstacles and solutions of cloud computing environment.


Minimum Requirements:

- The preferred candidate should have a combination of relevant academic and professional experience. The minimum qualifications associated with this position are BS with 5-7 years experience, MS with 3-5 years or PhD with 1 year experience.
- Experience with C/C++ and/or Java programming techniques
- System level knowledge of Linux and/or equivalent operating systems
- Familiarity with debugging at a system-level
- An understanding of complex systems from a performance perspective
- Experience in benchmarking a plus
- Prior experience work in an open source project a plus
- Good communication skills required.
- This person will need to travel to meet with developers and to represent AMD at conferences.
- A team player, who is self motivated.
