Job Title: Senior Software Consultant/WLAN Router Linux 2.6 / IPv6

Term: 1 year contract

Job Description:

Our client is an established chip company located in Sunnyvale.
They are seeking a Senior Software Consultant, expert in WLAN Router Linux 2.6 technology to complete a 1 year consulting project for them.

The features include Linux Kernel Migration, Binary Image Size Reduction, IPv6 Feature Addition, and Kernel Performance Optimizations.

Required Skills:
Scope of Services and Key Tasks and/or Milestones

Kernel Migration
Migrate the WLAN Router BSP from 2.6.22 to a newer (2.6.36) linux kernel
Provide BSP software in a format and structure consistent with existing WLAN approach
Update WLAN makefiles and build infrastructure to include new kernel
Create new toolchain as necessary to support the updated kernel
Ensure toolchain is supported on current WLAN platforms and build systems, similar to existing toolchain
Create open-src package for new toolchain, similar to existing toolchain
Image Size Reduction
Review 2.6 kernel and BSP configuration to reduce image size as much as possible, with target of 1.5Mbyte compressed image
IPv6 Feature Addition
Enable IPv6 Support in the Linux 2.6 Kernel
Enhance the router WebUI and command line user interface to enable/disable/configure IPv6 support
Provide the same IPv6 feature set as established by current production Linksys/Netgear routers
Make IPv6 support a selectable BSP feature in router Brands and Builds in a manner consistent with other Kernel features
Provide support to Software Test organizations and Software Applications teams as IPv6 support is rolled out
Performance Optimization
Review 2.6 kernel and BSP for WLAN-LAN bridging performance improvements
Review 2.6 kernel and BSP for WAN-LAN routing performance improvements
Review 2.6 kernel and BSP for USB attached storage (SAMBA) streaming performance improvements
