Our client is a leader in the digital age with products that are differentiated in sound quality, design, and form factor. They design and manufacture audio systems for computers and portable audio devices for music enthusiasts and general consumers alike. They are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to add to their staff in their San Diego location.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Product Management, the Senior Firmware Developer is responsible for all F/W design and verification for our products. He or she will be joining a fast-paced, focused team developing firmware and working with Acoustical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering to define successful products, establishing viable and reusable firmware designs, and implementing and/or testing the required functionality. The Firmware Developer will conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers.

Specific Duties include:
Work closely with usability team members, product managers, development teams and other internal stakeholders to build storyboards, proof-of-concept mockups, demos and prototypes of proposed and planned applications and features.
System-level design discussions and end-to-end audio review for DSP-based products.
Supporting UX design team in architecting product platforms and designs.
Designing and developing low level media device drivers and firmware components.
Creating test plans and implementing units and/or feature and/or system tests.
Writing design and validation documentation.
Performance assessment and audio tuning of DSP parameters for products.
Real-time embedded audio DSP/FW code development and testing for products.
Interfacing with Electrical, Acoustic, and Mechanical engineers in product development teams.
Contributing to internal engineering process improvements.


Required Skills:
Advanced degree required in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
10 years industry experience with at least 3 years experience and strong interest in audio.
Demonstrated experience launching products based on Apple iOS.
Familiarity with Apple and Android App SDK's.
Solid understanding of audio programming basic audio DSP's.
Knowledge of audio certification, and software performance optimization a plus (either academic knowledge or work experience).
Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced team environment, co-operating with engineers from other disciplines.
Solid knowledge of the issues involved in the development of embedded real time digital audio systems.
Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity.
Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering highly-polished prototypes under tight time constraints.
Desired Skills:
Experience in developing products for high-volume production is a plus.
Knowledge of acoustics is a plus.
