Job Description:
1. Minimum BS degree in Engineering, preferably either Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or Physics 2. General manufacturing engineering skillset (Assembly documentation, Bill of Materials experience, troubleshooting production problems, coordinating repairs, setting up production workstations, etc.) 3. 3D CAD experience and high precision tooling/fixture design 4. Some level of optics/laser experience is currently seeking a qualified Optico-Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer. The selected candidate will work as a member of the NPMD Technology Center team to document, release, and ramp products that are in our Monolithic Laser Combiner family. The MLC systems serve as an illumination source for the confocal and florescence microscopy industries. The selected candidate will work alongside Technicians and Engineers to develop the manufacturing capability required to produce the Industries most sophisticated and advanced laser combining systems utilizing state of the art equipment. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
2. • Developing, implementing, and transferring production processes to production staff.
3. • Working with state-of-the-art automation equipment to build prototypes of next generation products.
4. • Designing tools and fixtures to aid in alignment, fabrication, gluing, and assembly of laser and optical components.
5. • Testing and measuring laser and optical components to ensure performance meets specifications.
6. • Generating and implementing Engineering Change Orders affecting products and processes.
7. • Troubleshooting technical production problems and supporting product repair activities.
8. • Working with R&D engineers to support and participate in New Product Introduction activities
Skills and Knowledge Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to document processes and train operators and technicians. There may also be direct contact with customers during tours and audits.
• Experience with Labview programming is highly desired.
• Experience working with lasers, optics, fiber optic cables and electronic assemblies.
• Knowledge of adhesives and epoxies, behavior of polarized light, vacuum technology, and clean room environments.
• Experience designing tooling and fixtures to support production processes.
• Proficiency in using high end mechanical CAD tools.
• Proactive problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to think and act independently to achieve results from general objectives.
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work well with people at different levels and from different cultures.
• Experience with estimation of manufacturing costs and determination of time standards
• Experience with the practical application of Statistical Process Controls (SPC)
