Job Description VMware, a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking engineers with a proven track record for delivering high quality software products. The individual will be a Quality Engineer on new products in the End User Computing BU. This includes test design, implementation, execution, debugging, and maintenance of automated test cases as well as performing manual testing on an as needed basis. You will work closely with developers in design reviews and help ship products with very high quality.

Responsibilities:

- Develop test strategies, test plans, test cases which will then be automated using Java, C++ knowledge. Python would be helpful but not required
- Augment automation with functional black box testing as required
- Participate in enhancement of automated testing framework
- Review developer design and functional specifications and provide feedback during the development design phase
- Participate in defect resolution by identifying defects, assisting developers in reproducing defects, verifying defects are fixed, and identifying new regression test cases as needed
- Work on problems that require you to consider a wide variety of factors and use initiative and judgment to get them fixed

Requirements:

- 5+ yrs of relevant QA experience
- 5+ years of testing in Linux/UNIX and Windows environment, administration experience a plus
- 5+ years programming in a high level language, Java, C++
- BS/MS in computer science or equivalent
- Industry experience in writing automating tests Experience in developing test cases and test plans
- Strong knowledge of QA processes and methods

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as work in a team
- Ability to interact well in cross functional and multi-location teams
- Flexible and committed in order to do what needs to be done
- The ability to advocate for best practices, great usability and exceptional quality.
- Great organizational skills and a strong feel for process.

Bonus Requirements:

Java, C++ experience
Experience with security or authentication technologies (SSL/TLS, SSO, Firewalls)
Experience with Directory Services (LDAP, MS Active Directory)
Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, RDP, VNC).
Familiarity with any hardware architectures, preferably x86
Experience in working as a developer
