Platform/Guest Infrastructure Group

About the group
The Platform/Guest Infrastructure Group designs and implements programming interfaces that allows developers to control and configure guest operating systems running inside of a virtual machine. It works primarily with internal components running on ESX server, as well as the communication of messages among these components.

Responsibilities
 Develop a distributed infrastructure for controlling and configuring operating systems inside of virtual machines.
 Design and develop vSphere APIs and the core infrastructure for implementing these APIs.
 Provide technical leadership to a team of developers.
 Work with QE engineers to ensure software testability, stability, and quality.
 Work with the technical publications team to ensure high-quality documentation of the product and its APIs.

Requirements

Essential skills:
o Strong experience developing multi-threaded, distributed applications in C/C++.
o Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows programming.
o Proven ability to develop robust commercial-quality software, with a focus on reliability, supportability, and performance.
o Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
o B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Desired skills (optional):
o Windows or Linux kernel experience.
o 5+ years of software development experience.
o Python or Java experience.
o Deep understanding of any large, complex system.
o Experience with computer security and related protocols.

What product(s) will you work on?
 vSphere/ESX.
 Secondary: Workstation/Fusion.
