As Senior Storage Architect you will be designing next generation cloud storage architectures. The focus will be on leveraging the latest VMware software capabilities along with partner solutions to deliver a robust, high performance storage infrastructure. You will be expected to work across the organization with engineering teams to provide feedback for future products to enhance storage management, backup, and DR capabilities. You will also work with the cloud R&D development teams to develop automation tools to facilitate implementation, delivery, and management of private cloud instances.
Responsibilities
- Design the storage architecture for large-scale private cloud infrastructure.
- Work with partners to design and optimize storage architecture for private cloud.
- Optimize storage design for the best balance of cost, availability and performance.
- Work with Operations team to help design solutions for provisioning, management, monitoring, backup, and DR.
- Work with R&D to develop automation around storage provisioning, backup, and DR.
- Maintain current hands-on knowledge of the VMware product line, specifically: vSphere, vCloud Director and vCenter Operations
- Create design documents for deploying VMware solutions with recommended architecture.
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing VMware based cloud infrastructure with a focus on storage
- Hands on knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies from multiple vendors
- Experience with implementing a backup strategy for VMware environments
- Experience with VMware SRM or other DR strategy
- Understanding of modern IT production datacenter and managed hosting operations
- Experience with capacity planning for large scale systems
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- B.S./B.A./M.S. degree or equivalent technical training
