Are you an exceptional leader with technical talents in networking & infrastructure?
If so, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) wants you to become a key member of Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) executive team, overseeing services and platforms to support scientific collaborations around the world. Specifically, you will provide leadership of two exceptional groups: the Network Engineering Services Group, and the Infrastructure Group.
To be successful, you´d be a technical generalist with excellent analytical, communications, and leadership skills. You´d also have a broad understanding of IT technologies and disciplines, with a focus on wide-area networking and demonstrated ability to manage projects, processes, and people. Outstanding communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work productively and collaboratively with technical experts, scientific customers, and senior Berkeley Lab and Department of Energy management.

ESnet is a high-speed network serving thousands of Department of Energy (DOE) scientists and collaborators, and a recognized leader in providing high-performance network services.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the delivery of robust, secure, and innovative services for ESnet's scientific user communities.
• Develop priorities for the Network Engineering Services and Infrastructure Groups, in coordination with ESnet's strategic objectives.
• Provide leadership and line management supervision for approximately 15 network and systems engineers.
• Understand current and future requirements of ESnet customers. Align all services with customer needs, using scalable, cost-effective and innovative approaches.
• Plan and execute a range of projects, including procurements, installations, deployments, and service roll-outs.
• Participate in ESnet outreach activities through written articles, presentations, and direct contacts with staff in peer and customer organizations.
• Promote energy efficient architectures, technologies, and business practices.
• Maintain a work environment that embraces diversity, fosters creativity and innovation, and ensures that DOE and Laboratory rules and policies are observed.
