SR. FIRMWARE ENGINEER

Overview:

As a Senior Firmware Engineer you will be responsible for working closely with ASIC design engineers, architects, and customers to solve cross-functional design issues. Responsibilities for this position include development of structured source code targeting the embedded environment associated with the SSD product line, (SoC's).

Responsibilities:

Design and document high performance firmware algorithms to manage and interact with HW, handle errors and exception conditions
Implement, verify firmware/software on embedded system; debug firmware/software systems issues
Optimize firmware/software to meet performance levels
Verify design using a variety of verification methods; simulation, prototyping, and product testing.
Your focus will also be on firmware quality in the system and the target application.
As needed, you will develop new test tools and methods.
Analysis of functional or performance issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments


Qualifications:

5+ years directly related work experience (debugging in an embedded firmware application)
Must have demonstrated expertise in design and implementation of event driven real time firmware/software using C (or C++)
Understanding of RTOS concepts including task switching, deadlocks, and resource management issues
Firmware/System debug skills utilizing Debugger, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer etc. in lab environment
Experience developing and debugging high quality SoC solutions
Goal oriented and adherence to schedule
The ability to analyze complex firmware and hardware issues.
A high level of skill in problem recreation and trapping.
A high level of skill in identifying performance critical algorithms for optimization.
The ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems.
A high level of self-motivation, dedication, and ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills applied in a team enviornment


Highly Desireable Skills:

System design expertise
Flash, Storage systems or disk drive technology background
Experience in consumer or enterprise storage field
ATA, SAS, SCSI, FC or PCIe experience
Education:

MS or BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required
