As a Software Development Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will work closely with the hardware, ops, user-space, and QA teams. The Linux Kernel team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a high-performance, low-power, stable platform.
The Role:
The Senior Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation, and support of custom embedded Java Object Libraries across multiple platforms. This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of embedded software development, as well as demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, and conducting software development projects in a dynamic environment.
Responsible for the architecture of software solutions, determining current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new concepts and methodology, and development of major routines and utilities.
Maintaining and improving existing software.
Preparation of technical requirements and software design specifications.
Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
2+ years of software development engineering experience, with at least one year experience developing embedded applications.
2+ years of Embedded Java framework experience (Java 2 Mobile Edition, CDC, PBP).
Design and architecture knowledge, as well as familiarity with object oriented design patterns.
Engineering process experience with the ability to understand and apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Java AMS, or JSR-209 (AGUI) a plus.
Embedded Linux and X windows experience a plus.
Familiarity with current Web standards including latest HTML, CSS and JavaScript standards a plus.
Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules.
Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional interpersonal communication skill, including verbal, written, listening, and customer relationships.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
