Today, Quest Software is redefining enterprise-class Network Management solutions and has an aggressive product expansion plan to dominate the market. One of your main responsibilities will be to help define our growth by having a firm understanding of network management technologies and products, a broad knowledge of the overall network management sector, and the ability to bring exciting ideas to the table in order to grow product lines.

The Product Manager (PM) will define product strategy for Quest Software Network Management solutions. The position will be responsible for communicating differentiating capabilities and value propositions to external and internal audiences. The PM will build and prioritize the product roadmap and will work closely with engineering as they develop the solutions, ensuring that they are effectively built to specifications.

You will spend your days:
• Developing detailed and technical PRDs that articulate product requirements for engineering
• Monitoring development projects to ensure they are tracking to appropriate timelines
• Taking input from customers, analysts, and internal stakeholders to drive the delivery of innovative solutions to market
• Keeping informed of competition in the marketplace and new technologies that create market opportunities
• Preparing white papers, competitive matrixes and technical material to facilitate go-to-market activities
• Coordinating technical product training to professional services, technical support, and sales engineers
• Working with Product Marketing to determine how to position the solution to maximize market share and revenue
• Developing and maintaining a professional network of business relationships inside and outside the company to achieve business objectives

Ideal candidates will have the following attributes:
• Must be technically proficient in the areas of networking technologies, network devices and management tools
• Like fast-paced environments. Those interested in working a 40 hour week need not apply
• Great communication skills (verbal and written), especially technical for working with engineering team
• Highly organized, detail orientated, professional demeanor
• Excellent diplomacy skills
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution
• Creative, entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, persistent, optimistic attitude
• Passion for designing, developing and marketing products that deliver real customer value

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a technical foundation and experience doing product management. Hands-on experience managing enterprise-class networks and having used an NMS solution (Tivoli, Openview, Opnet, Solarwinds) in a production environment is a huge plus. Candidates must also have a technical BS and/or MS degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience. The position is located in our San Francisco office.
