The Web Security and Categorization team in the Security Technology Business Unit is responsible for backend systems and processing engines for Cisco Web Security Appliances. The team develops algorithms, appliance engines, constantly updated data sets and reputation systems. We are looking for an experienced Web security/data mining developer who can help us build the next generation systems that address the challenges in the evolving threat landscape.
Primary Responsibilities:
Software development for Web security and categorization products
Mentor and lead other engineers
Write specification documents and drive sign-off
Work closely with a cross functional team to design/develop new features
Work closely with the analysis/research team to take a prototype or an idea into a product
Required experience and skills:
Demonstrated technical ownership/leadership of large component(s) or whole product/platform
Years of experience: 8-10+
Solid grasp of Web security and URL filtering solutions
Experience in machine learning, data mining, statistical algorithms and systems
Demostrable high-level software design experience
Significant problem solving skills
Programming experience in Python and C or C++
MySQL database programming
Clear, concise communication skills
Passion for innovation and ability to push the limits
Familiarity with enterprise-class URL filtering and Acceptable Use Policies (AUP) a plus
Experience with web proxies, HTTP/HTTPS protocol, network security & routing desirable
Understanding of large-scale data-driven operational deployments highly desirable
