Role: Platform Multimedia Engineer

Responsibilities

Barnes and Noble are searching for world-class software engineers to join the Android platform development team. In your role you will be responsible for the design, implement, and optimize multimedia system software for Barnes and Noble's NookColor product line leveraging its hardware acceleration and enabling cutting edge digital media use cases in the areas of audio, video, and image playback and capture. Advanced use cases include HD content delivery and playback leveraging streaming video and encryption, video telephony, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Exceptional programming skills
• Exceptional communication/leadership skills (ability to work with international teams)
• Experience in the Mobile/Embedded development/debug
• Experience with developing multimedia software, especially in the areas of codecs (audio/video/image) and multimedia frameworks (e.g. OpenMAX IL, StageFright, GStreamer, DirectShow)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in content streaming (network stack, buffering, etc) and protection (DRM schemes, encryption, etc)
• Experience in quality/power/performance optimization
• Experience leading a small engineering team
• Multimedia application development/integration experience
• Experience with Google´s Android operating system
