[KITlist-Tech] Sr Operations Architect _Hands On (SF, CA)

Please direct your responses to: herbnj@gmail.com

Founded in 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley, Wikia was inspired by the model of Wikipedia - the free, open-source encyclopedia to which anyone could contribute content. Wikia focuses, however, on being the definitive resource on many topics that do not fit into the traditional encyclopedia model, building entire communities around pop culture content.

It is that very passion that has driven Wikia's tremendous growth over the past six years. We've gone from being a few solitary contributors and readers to a handful of communities to over 2 million registered users on 150,000 wiki communities. We are growing rapidly, currently close to 100 employees and we are profitable.

Sr. Operations Architect ( Very "hands on" role)

- 5+ years of experience in systems operations with heavy transactional volume and millions of customers

- Individual should have experience in being with a firm and scaling it significantly-

- Strong background in database and networking design concepts and
administration a big plus

- Significant background in design, deployment and management of
distributed system architectures
- Exceptional skills in linux engineering/architecture and scripting in perl, php, python, shell

- Background should include experience with online service that operates at a large scale in a typical 3 tier architecture ( web, apps, db) with billions of page views, and possibly thousands of servers

- Experience should include working in a fast paced, flexible, environment that was growing rapidly during their tenure

Wikia is a company on the move. We have solid stability (6 years), extensive growth (Profitable) and challenging but fun environment. Take advantage of this outstanding opportunity NOW!!! Please send your information to herbnj@gmail.com
