OPERATIONS ENGINEER( Strong Linux/Unix background, experience with either support /prof services/ or IT)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Silver Tail Systems is looking for an experienced Operations Engineer with the right combination of support and technical skills mixed with a solid understanding of the online or website fraud space. This individual should be highly motivated, resourceful, enjoy taking on new challenges, and be very adept at working in a small company. This candidate will join a small but growing team of professionals who are true A players in their respective areas. The individual will play a key role in defining, executing, and improving key aspects of improving both internal and external environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Manage and support Silver Tail Systems Operations
§ Manage the company's internal networks including development and production
§ Manage 'remote-hands' at Silver Tail Systems' datacenter
§ Manage capacity planning of Silver Tail Systems' environments
§ Manage Silver Tail Systems' installation processes and packages
o Assist Silver Tail Systems' Solutions Engineering team
§ Respond to customer system issues and ensure they are driven to resolution
§ Perform remote installations of Silver Tail Systems software
§ Interact with the development team to understand software issues and resolution of those issues
o Interact with Silver Tail Systems Product Management team
§ Effectively communicate with Product Management the market trends or required functionally to enable Silver Tail Systems to maintain its leadership position.
§ Consistently evaluate the installation process to find new ways to improve the perceived value of the offerings.
§ Candidate will be a supportive team member as well as work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Requirements (Strong background in Linux/Unix also experience in support, professional services or IT critical)
o Must be competent in LINUX with basic shell scripting skills
o Must understand distributed architecture
o Must have basic networking understanding
o Experience with port mirroring (SPAN or VACL) is a plus
o Experience with secure protocols (SSL and HTTPS) is a plus
o Intelligent and creative
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills
o At least 5 years of experience as in support, engineering, or a combination of the two
