Contract QA Engineer
Contract Length – 6 Months
Job Location: Milpitas, CA
We are looking for a contract QA Engineer to work with our Operations team. You will be responsible for testing, verifying and debugging modules related to Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) Technologies. You will be a hands-on individual contributor with an opportunity to build a test team in line with business unit growth. You will have significant interaction with Software, System and Customer Support Engineers to ensure robust and timely commercialization paths.
Responsibilities:
•Work with software developers and systems engineers to define, design, develop, execute document and implement test cases
•Extend standard UMA and 3GPP test specifications to provide robust verification of extensions and new features; and enable greater test coverage for functionality that is not defined in standards based test specifications
•Validate and document compliance of our Client to all pertinent UMA, 3GPP and customer specific requirements based on Test Case execution and results
•Work closely with the development team to identify and isolate failures and provide test support for fast debug cycles and regression testing at all phases of integration
•Work closely with customer support team and program management team on timely engineering release in post acceptance phase to satisfy customers release demands
•Define final "QA" end-to-end tests to validate incremental releases on multiple target platforms
•Define processes to measure/report QA performance and QC of engineering releases
•Work with test tool developers to identify/create test automation tools, applications and environments which can optimize the test process
•Work with third party test equipment vendors to extend internal test capability
Requirements:
•BS/MS in EE/CS or equivalent
•3+ years in systems test and development specifically related to Mobile Station handset testing in GSM/GPRS and/or UMTS
•3+ years of Experience in a QA role
•Experience with WiFi, WLAN, 3G, UMTS, GSM/GPRS, Carrier or Mobil Device IOT
•Direct work experience with protocol analysis tool such as WireShark/Ethereal
•Experience in definition and coding of test cases and analysis of layer 3 signaling
•Strong understanding of network (TCP/IP) and security (IPSec) protocols and experience with end-to-end testing in IP environment is must
•Ability to create, configure, and administer local WLAN-based test environment for various testing configurations
•Experience with Client/Server applications, good knowledge in UNIX/LINUX, QA, hdfandset, WiFi/,WLAN, 3G, UMTS, GSM/GPRS, Protocols
•Direct work experience with protocol analysis tool such as WireShark, Ethereal
•Development & Documentation of Test Cases & Test Plan and Test Network Environment, IPSec
•Excellent communication and coordination skills and ability to write clear specifications and procedures are required.
Good to Have:
•UMA Handset Development/Conformance test experience
•Carrier or Mobil Device IOT, (Interoperability Test)
•Customer support experience
•Test Experience with test equipment such as Agilent, Aeroflex, (AIME), RnS, (ROHDE & SCHWARZ), Azimuth, Opera Audio Tester Perforce(P4) or similar source control tools
release management knowledge
•Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux, CDMA/WCDMA
•Ability to write custom software tools to assist in handset testing is desirable.
•802.11 knowledge a plus
•C/C++ skills and familiarity with TTCN and ASN.1 programming is a plus
This is a 6-month contract position. You will be expected to provide the necessary documentation required to work as an independent contractor.
