Job Description:

The NOC Technical Engineer position is an important part of our data center team. As the front lines of our business you´re in the unique position of helping to cultivate a customer-focused environment. The NOC provides 24x7x365 coverage and as the primary interface with our customers you will be responsible for responding to trouble tickets, answering calls, installing network cabling, and more. As part of our team you´ll also be responsible for monitoring and responding to issues with the electrical system, the mechanical system, and the operational support of the facility. Occasionally you may be requested to assist with or troubleshoot issues a customer may have with their network equipment. We are looking for someone who is very reliable and able to work weekends, holidays, and off shift hours. We are also looking for someone who is interested in continuing to grow their technical skills.

Responsibilities:
* Follow the documented procedures for monitoring the Electrical and Mechanical systems.
* Complete customer requests both verbal and written (tickets)
* Monitor incoming ticket queue
* Generate trouble tickets in accordance with operating procedures
* Assist customers as needed e.g. provide carts, provide approved tools, etc.
* Perform data center and facility inspections
* Install network media (cross-connects) as need e.g. fiber optics, Cat5e and coaxial cable
* May occasionally install networking equipment i.e. servers, switches, routers, etc.
* Train other NOC personnel as needed on technical or non-technical matters
* Perform other duties as assigned by management standard

Physical Requirements:
* Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a minimal of amount of force frequently
or constantly to lift, carry, etc.
* Frequent use of hand tools i.e. wire strippers, scissors, punch down tools, etc.
* Frequent use of a ladder to complete cross-connects, demarcation extensions and cable pulls

Skill Requirements:
* General Knowledge of data center operations.
* General Knowledge of the Internet technologies such as DNS, Email, Web hosting, TCP/IP
* Must have TCP/IP knowledge and basic knowledge of routing and troubleshooting
* Must have experience with servers, routers, switches, hubs and networking equipment
* Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Windows, Linux, and/or UNIX
* Must have good problem determination/trouble shooting skills
* Must have good verbal communication skills
* Must have the ability to follow established guidelines, policies, and procedures
* Must have telephone, communications, and interpersonal skills
* Must have attention to detail skills
* Must be committed to quality and the motivation and ability to work well in a team environment

Desired Skills:
* Experience with Email, DNS, Web hosting, Unix, Ethernet
* Experience with trouble ticketing software
* Experience with Building Monitoring Systems (BMS)
* Experience with NetSuite
* Experience with data center security
* Understanding of network performance management techniques and software
* Familiarity with network technology, data communications media installation (fiber, coax, copper)

Education:
* High school diploma and 2+ years of college
* Certifications in IT, Networking, Cisco, or Microsoft a plus.
