Overview
SugarSync is looking for a motivated Database Engineer with a passion for efficient design and high scalability. You will be a key technical contributor to our platform engineering team, assisting with the creation of new features and scaling and maintaining a number of key, quickly growing databases within our infrastructure.
SugarSync has created a unique synchronization platform that enables unparalleled reach for users´ data. The service provides rich access, backup, and sharing features for any data type (documents, photos, music, video, etc.) across a variety of device platforms (desktop, web, and mobile devices, including iPhone and BlackBerry). Experience
• Required:
o 7+ years of related development experience building high volume, scalable relational database applications.
o Extensive SQL and DB schema design experience
o Excellent database performance optimization skills
o Extensive experience with Linux based systems
o Experience configuring and tuning mysql databases for high performance, efficient replication and redundant deployments.
o Good understanding of performance and scalability issues of Web Applications

• Desired:
o Past startup experience working on a high profile web service
o Experience with multiple types of storage subsystems, and experience optimizing I/O rates.
Skills
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Willingness to learn and to teach
Education
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
Compensation
• Competitive Bay Area Compensation
