Overview
SugarSync is looking for a motivated PSR (Performance-Scalability-Reliability) Lead Engineer who will be responsible for analyzing the architecture, profiling various components and determining the major performance bottlenecks across the entire service. You will be a key contributor within the engineering team, assisting with creating a solid PSR infrastructure, test bed and the tooling required to do proper benchmarking and profiling of the service under various loads. As the technical lead of the project you will be responsible for digging deep into the various components to isolate the root cause of the bottlenecks. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to work with leading cloud technology, a superb team, and very large data sets (we count in petabytes).

Experience
• Required:
o 10+ years of PSR experience
o Deep understanding of OS and DB internals
o Prior experience profiling web apps on Apache and Tomcat
o Past experience with load tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
o Familiar with process and DB profiling tools
o Familiar with profiling Java and C++ applications
o Superb automation and tooling skills
o Strong LINUX skills
o SQL and DB experience
o Past experience as a technical lead
• Desired:
o Prior experience writing tools using Java
o Prior experience writing technical Performance white papers
o Familiar with writing UML and DB Schema diagrams
o Prior experience profiling SAAS based service
o Past startup experience
Skills
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time
• Ability to work directly with Engineering, Operations and QA teams
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Willingness to learn and to teach
Education
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
