We are seeking a highly motivated Temporary QA Engineer who will work closely with the project, product, and software development teams to understand the release requirements and coordinate the testing for multiple Sequoia projects. This position requires the Engineer to both organize the testing as well as perform hands-on testing. As part of the Quality Assurance process, the Temporary QA Engineer will participate in creating the Master Test Plan and QA Exit Report as well as develop and execute feature and regression test plans and test cases for each assigned project. The Engineer will report the testing results to the QA Lead. The assignment is expected to last 3 months and may be extended.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Coordinate the testing for assigned projects
•Create test plans, test cases, test metrics, and other QA documents to ensure sufficient test coverage based on requirements and specifications
•Report the results of testing to the cross functional team and the QA Lead.
•Perform hands-on testing for all assigned projects as needed
•Participate in product design & requirement reviews to identify defects early in project
•Work closely with development to ensure the desired level of quality is built-in
•Be proactive in communicating risks and product issues to the cross functional team
•Analyze defect patterns to uncover flaws in the software design
•Understand the software dependencies that exist among the various Sequoia product lines to improve testing
•Perform any additional duties as assigned by Manager
Required Skills, Experience and Education
•At least 2 years commercial experience in testing complex applications
•Knowledge of software development life cycle principles
•The ability to write intelligent defects that developers can understand
•Actively participate and contribute during design and requirements reviews
•Must be a self-starter, have good interpersonal skills and positive attitude
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills are a must
•Must have strong organizational skills
•Must have effective communication skills, verbal and written
•Must be a team player and have a willingness to listen to others
•Ability to overcome challenging problems
•Highly motivated and passionate about Quality
•Decisive and detail-oriented
•Knowledge of Windows XP, Vista, and Linux operating systems
•Knowledge of POS touch screen applications, as well as handheld and wireless devices
•Experience testing web based, multi-tier as well as client/server products
•Experience testing products using some or many of the following technologies: C++, Java, JBoss, Apache, IIS, C#, .Net
•Experience in delivering quality eCommerce, web-based software products to market
•Experience in mobile applications/mobile web testing
•Bachelor degree or work equivalent
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education
•Familiarity with the College Bookstore industry is a plus
•Database knowledge, especially with Microsoft SQL Server 2005
•Familiarity with General Merchandising software a plus
