Job Responsibilities

The Intellectual Property (IP) Engineer will be a full-time member of the Synaptics IP Department, and will support the growth of Synaptics' patent and other IP portfolios. The IP Engineer will perform prior art searches and reviews, work with technologists to identify and document inventions, liaise between outside counsel and inventors, manage and provide substantive input to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and advance critical IP-related infrastructure and procedures.

The IP Engineer will have a unique opportunity to work with individuals of all levels and departments within Synaptics, pursue multi-functional projects that span across the company, and hone a wide breadth of different skills.

Required Qualifications

· BS in a technical field (EE, ME, Physics) with 1 – 5 years work experience, or MS with 0 – 5 years work experience

· Strong analytical and synthesis skills

· Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to collaborate effectively with different departments and levels

· Strong project management, planning, and coordination skills

· Exceptional attention to detail and interest in knowledge management

· Keen interest in IP law and legal fundamentals (especially patents and trade secrets).
