Local Candidates
This role reports to the CEO of our private and profitable global client. We require a dynamic, highly motivated senior level executive to be responsible to drive the creation and development of a new service offering that will help early stage start ups bring hardware products to market quickly, by harnessing communities from design and marketing to supply chain and fulfillment.
The ideal candidate will be someone with a proven product management and/or venture capital background, who can operate in a fast paced environment. The candidate will have demonstrated a solid understanding and experience of bringing various organizational skill sets and resources to bear on early stage ideas, and have proven success in realizing and delivering a commercial product from an idea. The candidate will also be familiar with angel/VC/entrepreneur communities and VC investment models.
He/she will be a flawless communicator (written and verbal) as well as experienced in the challenges of cross-functional leadership and leading a variety of diverse product development and business leadership programs. The position requires a mix of business planning, project management, business development, partnership management, relationship-building with a proven understanding of hardware product management. The candidate should feel comfortable collaborating with teams remotely, and also comfortable working independently in an unstructured environment.
Key roles and responsibilities:
· Define the Accelerator financial plan and drive toward execution
· Work with production team in Shenzhen to facilitate product development, manufacturing and delivery to market of the program participants' products.
· Drive pipeline of Accelerator Participant Teams and sit on selection panel.
· Act as program spokesperson to articulate the value of the Accelerator Program to the relevant communities of entrepreneurs and investors.
· Work closely with corporate marketing to create and deliver relevant programs to drive awareness and inflow of participants to the program.
· Be the advisor to program participants on marketing, brand strategy, and coordinate the community of experts and resources (mentors etc).
· Act as evangelist and spokesperson for Accelerator internally and externally at approved speaking engagements.
Critically, it is expected that an open, cordial, professional working relationship is developed with key peers and stakeholders: Executive Management Team, Design, Engineering, Corporate Marketing, Sales, Finance, Legal, Digital Marketing, Product Marketing, IT and others as appropriate. In addition the Driector will be expected to:
• Develop quarterly business reviews and next quarter plans.
• Provide information as and when requested on marketing-related information
• Produce bi-weekly report on open issues, opportunities and sales.
• Deliver budget recommendation for agreed activities.
• Raise PO's on time for all work.
• Track budget throughout each quarter keeping to agreed spending limits.
Required Skills:
10+ years work experience
- Demonstrated success bringing products to market in engineering or product management roles.
- Knowledgeable about investments and venture capital. Prior work experience at a top-tier VC firm or corporate VC strongly preferred.
- Consumer electronics or hardware industry experience preferred
- Strong networking capabilities
- Start-up experience an asset.
- Engineering Degree (BS or MS) MBA a plus
Location:
Palo Alto, California with frequent travel to Shenzhen, China
