Senior Product Manager
Our well-funded, venture-backed enterprise software start-up in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Senior Product Manager. This highly strategic role will be pivotal to our vision of transforming heterogeneous data centers spanning virtual, cloud & physical computing infrastructure. The founders are successful serial entrepreneurs with a proven ability to bring highly innovative technologies to market and build successful companies from the ground up. This is a very hot company in a stellar market with a seasoned executive team, top investors and an impressive list of early customers and company advisors.
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for ensuring the company delivers a product roadmap for market leadership. He/she will thrive on building leading edge products and developing programs to guarantee success in the market. This position is a hands-on role – it's not for a strategy-only person.
Knowledge of the data center software market is vital. The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for defining and prioritizing product features and capabilities and working closely with engineering throughout the lifecycle to ensure that the products built are solutions enterprise data center customers want to buy. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the go-to-market strategy and ensuring the sales team has all sales tools, collateral and programs necessary to make our aggressive sales plan.
Responsibilities
Own company's product roadmap
Define and prioritize product features and functions
Manage software products from concept through launch
Drive product positioning and competitive analysis
Deliver high-impact sales tools to support sales team
Evangelize technology and company to customers, media, analysts and partners
Facilitate cross-functional teams to ensure best products are built, marketed and delivered to customers
Serve as expert resource to sales team in data center technologies and competitive solutions
Develop tactical and strategic marketing programs
Requirements
Prior experience at Opsware/HP, Bladelogic/BMC, Tivoli/IBM, VMware, Citrix or other data center automation or virtualization company
At least 8 years of software product management experience
Strong knowledge of enterprise data center products
Hands-on leader with a passion for emerging technology
Demonstrated experience managing software products from concept to launch
Excellent written and presentation skills
Experience at both large companies and start-ups
Bachelor´s degree in technical discipline
MBA preferred
