Symmetricom is looking for an experienced FPGA Hardware Engineer to join the Boulder GBU enterprise engineering team to develop software for precise time and frequency products.

The engineer will lead the overall FPGA design path for the next generation of products through innovation and modular reuse. The FPGA designs will consist of an integration of new code and existing cores, both from inside and outside the company. The engineer will develop the RTL component of each design in Verilog and/or VHDL.

Job Responsibilities
• Work with peers throughout the company to make FPGA technology decisions, tool choices and define reusable cores
• Collaborate with coworkers in the development of project requirements and schedules and design reviews
o Design, implement, verify and document logic targeted toward FPGAs using industry standard design tools and methodologies.
o Be responsible for systems architecture/design, logic design, implementation at the RTL level, physical design synthesis / place/route, and module / system level verification
o Participate and drive technical design reviews
o Ensure that designs are verified to meet all functional requirements and performance requirements associated with the release of a first pass successful FPGAs
o Create and execute a comprehensive test strategy that uses both module level and top level systems test environments
o Actively participate in the development of product schedules and accept personal responsibility for delivering to agreed upon tasks and timeframe

Essential Qualifications
• BSEE or BSCS
• Minimum of 10 years experience in digital logic design and/or embedded software development
• Minimum of 5 years experience in FPGA design using Verilog and VHDL

Additional Desired Qualifications
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Experience with the design of networking subsystems in FPGAs
• Experience with design of clock/timing circuits in FPGAs
• Experience with Current FPGAs from Xilinx, Altera and Lattice
• Experience with softcore processors
• Experience with large FPGA designs involving multiple designers
