About the Job
We are seeking a highly self-motivated, experienced, Senior Product Manager to own and drive Akamai´s Software Delivery Services strategy and products. This person will be responsible for defining strategy, target markets, product requirements, pricing and financial models, managing product launches, and providing management updates on their product. The role will involve working closely with customers, management, as well as engineering, and a full cross-functional team including product marketing, sales, channels, service and support, network and operations, integration services, customer care, and billing.
About the Team
The media product management team is a group of industry leading professionals dedicated to owning and driving the innovation of digital media products at Akamai. Our products are used by the world´s top Software and Media businesses to deliver digital media such as consumer software, games, video and audio a wide array of digital devices.
Responsibilities:
* Define and implement a product strategy and roadmap for Akamai´s Software Delivery products, including P&L management.
* Define and drive the business plan, strategy,and positioning of the products working closely with Product Marketing to define the go to market plan.
* Drive the roadmap working closely with engineering and a full cross-functional team including product marketing, sales, channels, service and support, network and operations, integration services, customer care, and billing.
* Manage products through launch and follow-on releases.
* Interact with customers and prospects to define market requirements, and translate these requirements into product requirements that the engineering team can deliver within specification, on time, and within budget.
* Create and deliver sales training for the direct sales force as well as channel partner sales forces and technical services and support teams.
* Write and develop product collateral such as product descriptions, presentations, sales tools and technical white papers.
* Represent Akamai at conferences and other events.
* Define and drive appropriate strategic partnerships.
Basic Qualifications
Education: BA/BS Degree, Master's preferred.
Overall Experience: 7+ years of professional experience.
* 5+ years of experience with product management, product marketing or product development.
* 2+ years of experience with Internet related technologies.
* 2+ years of experience working with high-tech and media customers.
Desired Qualifications
* Interest and knowledge of current high tech and media industry trends.
* Experience or exposure to managing online software business, including delivery of software to end users.
* Experience or exposure to systems and tools that enable Electronic Software Delivery today, including desktop software for download management and updates, license key and entitlement systems, business analytics, etc.
* Technical competence working with various Internet technologies, including HTML, Javscript and HTTP. Comfort level building prototypes to communicate vision.
* Ability to gather data from the market and customers and effectively analyze to determine business priorities.
* Desire for on-going challenges and interest in continuously learning about new Internet technologies.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences.
* Situational fluency, ability to influence and motivate others, and perserverance to handle challenging business situations.
* Must be a team player.
