Product Manager – Network Security
Location: San Francisco

OVERVIEW:
Our client seeks an experienced product manager who has successfully led individual product lifecycle development within a suite of products. This position requires a highly articulate and well-organized leader who can excel in managing a large customer base and complex product. This candidate must have prior experience in fostering innovation in a well-established product.

This position will be responsible for the product's strategy, planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including gathering, analyzing and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and roadmap, and working closely with the agile-based engineering teams, sales, marketing, and customer support to ensure customer value and satisfaction. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. He/she must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the customer, and find innovative solutions for the broader enterprise governance, risk and compliance market. This position is based in San Francisco; limited relocation assistance will be considered.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Working with cross-functional teams to produce tactical and strategic plans for product development
• Participate and lead product planning and execution throughout the entire product lifecycle
• Gather, analyze, and prioritize product and customer requirements as well as understanding the competitive landscape.
• Have proven experience in a successful product that is part of a larger suite of products
• Work with other departments to ensure effective launch and sales of products and product versions through all sales channels.
• Establish measurable performance indicators for your product team
• Active participation in the product strategy and roadmap for the company's product portfolio
• Define and document product requirements; Track customer usage and requirements to ensure and identify opportunities for success
• Conduct competitive, product strength and weakness analysis
• Define and drive product positioning and value proposition
• Lead efforts to train and transfer knowledge throughout the organization
• Well versed in management reports, researching market conditions, and trends in the industry

QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 5 years of product management experience
• 4-year degree in computer science or related field highly preferred
• Must have working knowledge of vulnerability management or IT security market.
• Working knowledge of UI prototyping tools is a plus
• Experience in managing products within a suite is a plus
• Knowledge of open-source, FreeBSD and Linux are desirable
• Experience with a structured product management methodology
• Strong interest and understanding of a variety of agile methodologies, product development lifecycle techniques, and quality processes
• Ability to travel (approximately 25%) required
• Must be able to multi-task and effectively manage deadlines
• Must have great attention to detail, highly organized with a focus on quality work
• Demonstrate a proven ability to work with G2000 customers, partners and channels
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be adept at communicating complex subject matter to broad audiences

The Product Manager will be expected to bring a high level of competence in the following categories:

Team Performance - Includes team planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; takes responsibility for teams activities; makes self available to team and staff; provides regular performance feedback; develops personal and team member skills via alternate viewpoints, training, and encourages growth of the team; solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); fosters quality focus in others; improves processes. Continually encourages communication to adapt the team to changes in the environment.
Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality in every aspect of the product owner function; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Implements and refines processes and measurement that promote agility and accuracy through controls and procedures.

This is a high bandwidth function in the company. The successful candidate will be a well organized manager who can delegate effectively and not succumb to or be overwhelmed by the details of the product management function. The role must be constantly looking for ways to deliver the best products that delights and delivers value to our customers. The successful candidate will have proven abilities to excel in execution and deliver on or above plan consistently.
