Department Overview
The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) product suite is key to Symantec's vision of information-centric security. Continuing to build upon the success of the Vontu acquisition in late 2007, the products have shown enormous success as a business unit within Symantec, growing revenue at >20% annually. The Symantec DLP solution discovers, monitors and protects confidential data to help organizations ensure public confidence, demonstrate compliance and maintain competitive advantage. Symantec DLP customers include many of the world´s largest enterprises and government agencies. The Symantec DLP Engineering team is headquartered in downtown San Francisco, within easy walking distance from BART and CalTrain.

Responsibilities
As an engineer joining the newly established Customer Response Team, you will get an opportunity to work on broad set of challenging customer-related issues which will require learning wide range of technologies and components of the DLP product, to help provide technical solutions to our customers and improve the quality of the product.
Working on DLP Data In Motion product, you will gain firsthand experience with world's largest corporate network deployments, and work with mission critical email and Web infrastructures of Fortune 500 companies.
The CRT team will also develop internal and external tools that help with product supportability.

If you have passion for troubleshooting, getting from symptoms to root causes and providing fixes while learning top notch DLP security technology, CRT is the right place for you.

As one of the first engineers joining the newly established Customer Response Team, you will get an opportunity to help lead and train new hires and shape the group's roles and responsibilities.

• Handling and resolving Symantec DLP Data In Motion customer escalations, by troubleshooting customer issues, finding root causes and providing solutions
• Development of fixes on current products, providing technical solutions to customer-reported problems
• Interfacing closely with: Technical Support, development teams, QA teams and customers with primary intent of making the products more supportable and of higher quality
• Building the knowledge base, train future hires and help transfer knowledge to the support organization

Qualifications
• Expertise in setting and debugging complex network enterprise environments, including proxy server, MTAs and gateway products
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with network analyzers
• Experience with java and/or C++
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP
• Passion for improving code quality, troubleshooting and finding root causes
• Fast learner, must be able to handle multiple tasks at a time, and with little direct supervision
• Must be a team player and enjoy working on all aspects of product development including coding, debugging and testing
• BSCS or related degree required. MSCS preferred
