General Responsibilities:
The Sr. Software Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for embedding quality throughout the software development and product engineering process by engaging with various departments including product management, engineering, and User Experience. The role will help shape the future of the test infrastructure for Belkin by developing, monitoring, and improving processes, standards, and test automation frameworks. The SQE will conduct design/code reviews and other basic engineering quality practices as required. The role will also guide software quality engineers on test execution and test automation methodology. Expert understanding of software in multiple deployment environments including embedded systems, desktop/mobile applications, and web based applications will be needed in order to perform the QE function effectively across a variety of products.
Core Requirements:
•Strong Quality Engineering foundation
•SeleniumRC and JUnit
•Solid understanding of Object Oriented implementation in Java
•Proven experience in creating test automation frameworks
•Performance and security testing of web application and web services
•Comfortable with Linux programming and shell scripting
•Test infrastructure continuous improvement
•In-depth understanding of QA and SDLC methodology
Specific Responsibilities:
•Excellent knowledge of quality engineering and quality assurance principles, processes, tools, and best practices
•Defines, develops and maintains manual and automated test scripts
•Builds test automation frameworks, reusable modules, and test tools
•Architect and implement automated test infrastructure
•Plans, develops and executes automated tests on embedded, and web based applications and platforms
•Creates, plans, and executes high level UI as well as low level API driven automated load and stress tests
•Troubleshoots, analyzes, reports, and recommends changes to enhance overall quality
•Works collaboratively with the engineering team(s) to affect the design and development of software to ensure quality on a daily basis.
•Strong experience with both Java, JUnit, and Java specific testing technologies
•At least 4 years of experience with automation for large-scale web infrastructure
•Expert understanding of various Operating Systems
•Object orientated programming specifically with Java
•Work with engineering to measure and drive product quality throughout the software development process
•Excellent working knowledge of software´s interaction with hardware platforms, internet connected applications/protocols, as well as other devices/platforms
•Self motivated and passionate about the technology enough to keep abreast of emerging technologies
•Working knowledge of Agile/SCRUM development methodology or iterative process
•Strong experience with continuous integration, build management, and source control tools including hudson, maven, and svn
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Has a methodical approach based on proven engineering principles
•Proven ability to deliver concise and clear fact based test results
Education, Experience and Requirements
•B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent is required
•Minimum 5 years in Software Quality Assurance with emphasis on Quality Engineering and Test Automation
