In this position the individual will be responsible for leading a world class 3rd level failure analysis (F/A) team to support new product development and OEM customers. The individual will mature the group to meet stringent OEM turn-around times and root cause analysis requirements. Manage team that performs root-cause failure analysis on EFD failures from DVT, reliability testing, and customer returns. The individual will determine process to derive containment and corrective actions for OEM requested FA and issues escalated from the factory. Collaborate with engineering on developing improved F/A tools and enhanced firmware trace capabilities and diagnostics to increase F/efficiency. Track outstanding F/A requests and activities, and collaborate with engineering and other stakeholders to ensure timely closure of outstanding F/A issues. Generate 8D reports and deliver to the customer in a timely manner. Continually monitor component failure paretos from manufacturing as well as from customers for new failure modes, and to ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions for known failures. Develop expertise in NAND Flash failure modes, and work with Test Engineering to develop tests for these failure modes, and work with NAND Flash engineering on methods to design in robustness for these failure modes in new designs.
Experience with flash memory is extremely useful. Experience with SAS and other serial interfaces required. Experience with signal integrity analysis tools and techniques desired. Working knowledge of HDD firmware architecture. Experience with NAND Flash failure modes highly desirable. Knowledgeable of the PCB assembly process. Working knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis techniques (six-sigma experience is beneficial). Experience with reliability concepts: MTBF, FIT, temperature acceleration.
This is position requires a B.S.E.E, with M.S.E.E preferred. Minimum of 15 years experience in HDD failure analysis with 8 or more years of direct management experience. The ideal individual must have proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of division/business unit strategic objectives and goals. Excellent planning and problem solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced and limited resource environment. Dynamic, motivated, and results oriented creative thinker.
