Contract: 4-6 months, possibility of full-time
TITLE: Microprocessor Software/hardware Engineer/gas detection products
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a growing gas detection company located in Union City. They are seeking a well rounded microprocessor engineer with good hardware and embedded software design skills that will help design the next generation of products.
"The ideal candidate would need to be good at both software and hardware, but if they did not know both then we could probably settle for a good software person and we'd juggle around the hardware tasks. This person would need to dive into the software from another engineer that is 80% to 90% completed and complete it. They would need to be really good at deciphering someone else's software. Their long term tasks would be more projects from scratch as well as modifying existing software for improvements or custom designs. Depending on how they do and the skill set, we may want to hire permanently after the existing task is finished, which should take 4 to 6 months or so."
Specific duties include:
Mixed signal electronics design for various industrial gas detection systems using 8 and 32-bit microcontrollers.
Embedded firmware for 8051, PSoC, and ARM platforms using C.
Take project ownership from inception to manufacturing.
Work together with mechanical engineers to optimize packaging and other mechanical issues.
Generating PCB schematics (ability to use Altium Designer helpful).
PCB design or supervising PCB design (ability to use Altium Designer helpful).
Generation of technical drawings and bills of material.
Support existing product line as needed.
Other tasks to be assigned as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Minimum 4 years experience designing hardware instrumentation design a plus.
Excellent C programming abilities with minimum 4 years experience.
Experience with embedded firmware for 8 and 32-bit platforms.
Proficient with small signal analog design.
Proficient in grounding techniques, noise shielding, and EMI attenuation.
Experience using PCAD or Altium Designer.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment.
