Mid Level Quality Engineer with both Hardware and Software expertise.
We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to help drive our functional & automated testing efforts for some exciting new revolutionary product in both the hardware and software departments.The Senior Quality Engineer will provide technical leadership on development of test strategy, including test data collection, reviewing diagnostics for HW coverage and hands-on testing / debugging of products for manufacturing to achieve high quality.
He / she will be the primary contact to work with contract manufacturers, component and sub-system suppliers on quality / yield improvement during manufacturing, root cause analysis and will follow through in implementing closed loop corrective actions. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for debugging software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products. Also responsible for capturing results and filing defect reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, modifies, executes and reviews hardware and software test plans and test cases. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures.
Responsible for documentation and training on test automation. Responsible for keeping track of open bugs and close them.
Develops and maintains Linux/ Windows shell scripts to aid in testing standalone or web-based applications.
Develops and maintains SQL queries to aid in testing of Database related features.
Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.
Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action.
Will define and implement test improvement to cover field failure scenarios [including early life failures] that are either test escapes or unrepeatable in the laboratory
Creation of traceability and requirements coverage matrices to ensure the quality of the features under test.
Create valid estimates regarding effort for tasks, communicate these estimates and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Familiarity with tools like - Selenium, JIRA, TestLink, SVN, and ANT is a plus.
Knowledge of writing test automation and scripts using CLI, PERL, C++ and Linux as well as understanding of BIOS and drivers is a plus.
Required Experience and Skills
5+ years of QA experience testing applications based on embedded systems and/or web-based technologies.
Experience developing shell scripts from the Windows or Linux platforms.
Experience is designing and running Automation scripts using Open Source tool like Selenium is a plus
Experience with QA processes and tools, test management systems, QA automation, analyzing bug trends, SQL and related topics.
Strong communication and problem solving skills.
Education
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any type) or a related field
