Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Instructional Design Manager, this person will be responsible for developing training materials for our Fortune 100 client's Retail employees. (This is a one (1) year, full-time contract).

Senior Instructional Designers must be able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, innovative environment that demands high quality, creativity, and consistency. This position requires solid instructional design skills that map to the quality demands of the 21st century adult learner, particularly Generation Y. The scope of work is global in nature so this position requires experience in designing and writing for global audiences. This Instructional Designer will be expected to set creative standards for a blended approach to delivery, including classroom learning, on-line learning, podcasts, interactive video, just-in-time learning and assessment tools. HTML 5 experience and App development is preferred but not required. A strong candidate will possess the right blend of thinking differently and working productively.

A working knowledge of traditional Instructional Design principles is preferred, but a willingness to step away from them and do something different is needed.
This Instructional Designer position will also be expected to work as a project manager capable of leading a collaborative development process while working closely with Corporate Market Support, Market Leaders, Regional trainers, editors, and team members from our stores. The person hired will be able to demonstrate leading a successful creative brainstorm, ability to set timelines and lead team of designers to meet them while at the same time, designing.

The right candidate loves Apple products. The right candidate possesses a deep respect for those working in our stores and creates training that reflects a desire for them to increase their capacity, confidence and job satisfaction. This person should also be capable of leading the development of creative course materials that inspire our client's retail team to become engaged and willing to participate in the learning process. Additional benefits include product knowledge of Apple products and instructional design experience that includes developing both instructor-led and self-paced training delivered through a variety of methods including classroom, web, and mobile devices.

Prior classroom experience teaching trainers how to deliver training successfully to a variety of global audiences is also preferred. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

-Point of content for Store Operations and Retail Merchandising, communicating business priorities and highlighting opportunities for training
-Lead collaborative projects, processes and facilitate agreement; work effectively as a team member
-Apply our client's standards to all aspects of work projects
-Continuously enhance own Instructional Design skills
-Take initiative and contribute openly to global development projects
-Assist in coaching and developing other Instructional Designers
-Work towards developing global solutions in close partnership with regional partners
-Engage in open feedback forums to elevate the overall standard of performance
-Assess course materials for revision and continuous improvement purposes

Requirements

-5+ years instructional design experience creating innovative, blended learning Sales Training solutions
-5+ years project management with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-MA in instructional design, related discipline or equivalent work experience
-Ability to create media-based elements to support classroom training activities
-Knowledge of different consultative sales processes
-Ability to facilitate collaborative, cross-functional decision-making processes
-Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills!
-Ability to apply needs assessment processes to determine the effectiveness of global training
-Exceptional ability to listen and build rapport with a wide range of cultures and personalities
-Strong understanding and experience with the Mac platform
-Examples of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Experience working collaboratively with peers on multi-faceted projects
-Availability to travel in the USA and abroad is required

-Graphic design, multimedia, and web development experience
-Experience working in a retail environment
