Senior Developer (Google Search Appliance) needed for 3-6+ month project. Client company is stable / public / growing.

Can pay 90-140 an hour depending upon experience. PLEASE only qualified candidates.

Job Function

Be an integral part of a team responsible to build a scalable and extensible Enterprise Search solution based on Google*s Search Appliance (GSA). Perform design, development, and configuration activities including front-end customization.

Responsibilities

The Google Search Appliance Sr. Developer will be responsible for all stages of the implementation life cycle: Design, Development, Testing and Deployment. Responsibilities include:

* Integrating the Google Search Appliance with various content and security systems, including writing custom connectors
* Configuring and developing GSA connector with various content sources following best practices.
* Optimize the Google Search Appliance (GSA) for performance and relevance
* Customizing the Google Search experience (UI)
* Content crawling and indexing configurations
* Integrate with secure / access-controlled content
* CMS and application integrations
* Relevancy tuning and functions to improve user experience

Requirements

* 5+ years of experience implementing Enterprise Application projects with an emphasis on Integration or Search solutions including analysis, design, development, and implementation.
* Extensive experience in implementing Enterprise Search projects especially in connection with the Google Search Appliance
* Experienced in GSA connector configuration and development as well as integration with enterprise data sources (on-premise, hosted, cloud) and advanced infrastructure
* Should have good understanding of metadata mapping across various content sources.
* Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, .NET, AJAX, JSP, JEE, SOAP, REST
* Strong understanding of Internet protocols: HTTP, TCP/IP, FTP
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills
* J2EE background and experience in designing integrations through security layers
* Understanding of tc Server is a plus
* Develop applications/ connectors to crawl content not natively supported by Google Search appliance

Responsibilities:

* Exercises independent judgment and authority to publicly release branded materials while mitigating risk and liability through interaction with legal, finance and other controls as appropriate
* Leads and completes the development of new services delivery kits to enable VAC partners and field consultants to deliver high quality solutions based on Company*s technologies
* Leads development projects for standardized services delivery and decides whether or not all release criteria are met for new services offerings across all Company solutions and consulting practices prior to public release.
* Gathers and distills field expertise and best practices.
* Maintains current knowledge of the full range of Company products and solutions.
* Works regularly with Services Product Managers to define and meet development and release schedules.
* Holds and maintains technical credibility within the virtualization services industry and the field through demonstration of thought leadership, including:
o Leading and delivering technical enablement web conferences, services delivery training events and technical labs at industry-wide events.
o Regular participation in technical discussions (e.g. VMTN forums, consulting discussions and escalations, etc).
o Presentation at customer and partner opportunities, training sessions and venues.
* Identifies, recruits, mentors and assists with on-boarding new services engineering (Practice Development) staff

Requirements:

* Certified Professional with 2+ years of delivery experience.
* At least 6 years experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services consultant or engineer, preferably with a software or *Big 5* consulting organization, producing comprehensive customer deliverables.
* Managing relations with both internal and external business and technical teams.
* 2+ years experience with using and managing commercial product development and release processes, preferably with services in a software company.
* At least 3 years experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments (including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioning).
* Experience with architecting and managing enterprise IT architectures (networking, storage, security, services and protocols, operating systems including Windows, Linux, UNIX).
* Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to travel up to 30 percent of the time, including international.
* B.S./B.A./M.S. degree or equivalent technical training.
