Technical Use Case Engineer, Safety Critical
Preferred locations: Scottsdale, AZ or Alameda or Sunnyvale, CA
Wind River, the world leader in embedded and mobile software, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer Content Developer. The person in this position will be responsible for exploring cutting-edge and pre-release software, capturing advanced technical topics from subject matter experts, and analyzing product behavior in different hardware/software combinations. He/she will use this understanding to define and design advanced use cases focused on how customers will use our products and solutions to solve technical challenges. Those use cases will be leveraged as a foundation for documentation and technical training material for internal and external use, including user guides, reference manuals, etc.
The successful candidate must be a team player who can accomplish goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong communication skills, and a track record of proven success in analyzing, solving, and articulating complex challenges for embedded software. Together with your highly skilled teammates, you will work to create documentation that ensures the success of customers adopting new, market-leading technologies.
Primary responsibilities:
· Understand advanced technical solutions that involve VxWorks, safety critical and secure technologies
· Develop and maintain well-defined technical use cases, and training materials for different groups
· Stay current with leading-edge embedded software technologies relevant to your area of work
· Support a growing organization that includes sales operations specialists, qualified instructors, engineers, and technical publications writers
· Participate in requirements gathering, design, and code reviews of customer-facing material
Qualifications:
· BA/BSc degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical degree)
· 3-5 years of relevant technical experience in the areas of software engineering, and/or sales engineering, with 2-3 years of experience in development of embedded software
· Basic understanding of one or more of the following safety critical and secure specifications, and associated processes: DO-178B, ARINC 653, and MILS
· At least 3 year of experience developing applications targeted towards Aerospace & Defense environments using a Real Time Operating System (RTOS)
· Strong understanding and with proven experience in using one or more of the following VxWorks versions VxWorks 5.x/VxWorks 6.x/VxWorks 6 Cert/VxWorks 653/VxWorks MILS
· Strong understanding of PowerPC or Intel IA hardware architectures
· Demonstrated software programming proficiency (C/scripting) with the ability to create and explain C code examples
· Ability to explain highly technical material to technical and non-technical audiences
· Ability to communicate with principal engineers on advanced technology
· Strong problem solving skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Exceptional team player who works well in collaborative situations
· Self managed, fast learner, and some project management capabilities
· Desire and ability to master new technologies
Desired Qualifications:
· Ability to create and explain C++ code examples
· Experience with Board Support Packages (BSP) and Device Drivers is desirable
· Some experience in a scripting language such as Python is an advantage
