Job description:
If you are a highly motivated and dynamic individual who wants to work on highly visible, critical products in the emerging Smart Meter market, then this engineering position is for you: Build / Release Engineer role on a team of smart, ambitious, and fun people involved in the development of advanced policy-based networking software for wireless networks.
The person in this role will report to the Release Engineering Manager and apply their extensive experience managing software source code, change control, configuration management, and product build and deployment processes for a next generation wireless networking infrastructure solution.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and on small project teams, and must excel in an energetic and fast paced start-up environment. Your responsibilities will include build procedure design, documentation, build process implementation, quality testing, and production support.
Qualifications:
*Familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle
*Strong experience in the implementation and maintenance of complex version control systems (CVS or SVN preferred)
*Proficiency with GNU tools and shell/perl scripting, including GNU AutoConf, AutoMake, and LibTool
*Experience with Debian, RPM, Portage, and other Linux distribution packaging systems
*Strong Linux/Unix system administration and configuration skills
*Programming and debug skills in C/C++ in Linux/Unix environments
*Strong experience architecting tools to run and monitor periodic and on-demand build and deployment systems across multiple development branches in multiple environments
*Ability to recommend best practices for ongoing parallel development, branching, merging, and common library management
*Ability to drive the creation of a highly automated and effective build and regression test infrastructure
*Ability to effectively work with engineering to ensure on-time product delivery
*Ability to perform system analysis and report build statistics
*Ability to provide after hours support
*Results oriented and product focused with excellent attention to detail and quality
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Experience working on cross-functional teams using agile software development methods
Experience/knowledge in the following areas is highly desirable::
*Understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack
*Building and testing C/C++ applications in Linux/Unix environments
*Internet-working and Security protocols
*Wireless networking protocols
*Linux Test Project or other Linux distribution test systems
*Automated unit test frameworks
Requires a BSEE/CS combined with 5+ yrs related experience, or an MSEE/CS combined with 3+ years related experience
