Our Client's Worldwide Marketing Communications department (Marcom) creates a vast amount of high quality customer-oriented marketing and communications content, which is delivered across the globe.

The Infrastructure and Applications group within Marcom Technology manages all of the systems and services necessary to support Marcom, as well as the development and support of tools used within the department, the company, and by customers. The team is responsible for keeping all infrastructure operating day-to-day, and working proactively to ensure that future business needs will be met.

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Analyst to join our Infrastructure group. The Interactive Systems Analyst will primarily focus on infrastructure and support for the Interactive team within Marcom, responsible for developing and delivering content for www.apple.com, Apple Online Store, and Apple's Direct Marketing efforts.

The position involves technical leadership and collaboration on a number of challenging and fast-paced projects to support Apple's various marketing initiatives and infrastructure requirements. You'll interact regularly with Web Producers, Designers, and Developers, the Application Development team, the Internet Services team responsible for the delivery of www.apple.com, System Administrators, Project Managers, and a number of other stakeholders across many different aspects of Apple's business.

A successful candidate will be a generalist, having experience with both front- and back-end web development. On the front end, this includes knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. On the back end, knowledge of Apache configuration and optimization, as well as experience with PHP and/or other web application languages is required. Understanding of, and experience debugging issues related to the HTTP protocol is required.

Second only to your technical knowledge will be your troubleshooting prowess. Presented with a technical problem of any type, you should be able to delve into the details, navigating through the various systems and technologies involved to discover the root cause. When you don't know the nitty gritty details about something, your ability to discover and make use of the information necessary to successfully solve problems will be essential.

In addition to exceptional technical ability, a desirable candidate will also possess good interpersonal skills. The position requires excellence in communication, both written and verbal, including the ability to work well with people from a wide range of backgrounds with varying levels of technical ability.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

•Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

•Coordination, planning, and technical support for system-related activities surrounding the development and launch of projects for www.apple.com.

•High-level administration for Interactive systems (user management, permissions, etc.).

•Ongoing support for end users of Interactive systems.

•Technical implementation and/or ownership of Interactive infrastructure, including the subversion repository and development servers.

•Providing documentation and cross-training for stakeholders and end users.

•Analysis and interpretation of requirements (from documents and through conversations) to arrive at technical solutions.

•Quantify the pros and cons, dependencies, and level of effort required for technical solutions.

•Work with the Project Management, System Administration, and other teams to assist with the design and documentation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems, vet solutions and contribute ideas for infrastructure projects.

Proven Skills and Abilities

•Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

•Experience with both front- and back-end web development including knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

•Understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), as well as back-end systems (e.g. file and web servers) and the software that runs on them (Mac OS X Server, Apache, AppleFileServer, Subversion, LDAP etc.).

•Administration and maintenance experience with Subversion.

•The ability to pick-up new skills quickly is essential. Absolutely must be a self-directed learner.

•Ability to multitask, willingness to take the initiative to solve problems, and a desire to learn and apply knowledge.
Proven ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines to solve critical issues.

•Able to work equally well with people in creative and technical positions.

•Able to apply sound judgment while working independently within tight timelines.

•Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

•Strong oral and written communicator, with good interpersonal skills. Able to forge trusting relationships within a diverse team.

•Able to accurately provide schedule estimates and meet expectations for work commitments.

Nice to Have

•Systems Administration experience with Mac OS X Server.

•Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Perl, PHP, Python, etc.) and regular expressions.

•Ability to install and configure web applications (including Apache, PHP, Rails, etc.)

•Experience with LDAP and DNS.

•Working knowledge of file services provided over AFP.

•Experience with Xsan and RAID systems (Xserve RAID and Promise RAID preferred).

•Requires a minimum of 5+ years experience in a complex enterprise or marketing environment. Educational background and/or experience related to Applied Information Technology or similar disciplines preferred. Looking for someone with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
