Job Description:
This is a potential contract-to-perm Senior System Architect position. This position will be responsible for the UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) Server and SAN/NAS storage environment. This includes server builds, monitoring, design and support of several mission critical clinical and business systems, e.g. Pharmacy, STOR, Business Integration Engine, Time and Attendance.
This position will be a key technical resource in determining the future strategic direction for the UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) Virtualization, and storage platform for the Medical Center IT department. Service Delivery solutions/improvements will leverage candidate's knowledge and experience in scripting/automation technologies common to UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) environment (builds, patching, task automation, etc.). In addition to providing technical leadership, this position will also have key role in solution design for technical projects- both Operational and Capital. The Server Engineering and Technology group provides 7 by 24 engineering support for all the UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) servers supported by the Medical Center IT department. Technology areas of focus include blade server technologies; virtualization using IBM Power VM and VMware, and LPAR; and in the storage arena include SAN/NAS, Virtualization (SVC), backup/recovery, DR, archival, and storage assessments (ILM, consolidation, performance).

Required Qualifications:
Ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts in disciplines such as platform technologies, programming languages, or network and systems design and interfaces. Ability to manage and contribute in a team-oriented workgroup.
• The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and experienced systems and storage engineer
• This engineer will be involved in business critical technical projects that will require cost effective solution development, design, implementation, and assessment activities for a broad range of UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) systems and storage solutions.
• 5 + years as a Senior Systems Administration in the UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) environment including IBM HACMP, NIM, Power VM, installation break fix, and maintenance
• Advanced knowledge and experience with UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) Server Family–knowledge of scripting and automation techniques key.
• Experience with enterprise storage subsystems including IBM DS8100, DS4800, and DS4400, SAN director switches, and IBM SAN SVC software.
• Experience with Enterprise backup solutions including EMC Networker in multi-platform environment.
• Ability to mentor/knowledge transfer to 1st and 2nd level support personal
• Ability to learn and implement 3rd party tools for environmental support
• TCP/IP networking experience – knowledge of TCP/IP model layers 1-4 in enterprise environment essential.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery programs- position will play a key role in DR procedure development leveraging one or more medium to large scale data centers.
• Language/Scripts: C/Perl, shell scripting

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in an academic health care, healthcare, or university environment.
• Experience in formal Project Management. Experience with developing or testing of Disaster Recovery Plans.
