IT Backups and Storage Engineer

Job Description:
Sony Network Entertainment is searching for a highly competent and experienced candidate who has exceptional skills in enterprise backups and storage networks in corporate offices or global data center environments supporting mission critical network systems. The right candidate will be capable of defining and executing on well-constructed operational strategies, processes, and procedures; as well as have excellent communication, negotiation, project management and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Primary person responsible for our backups infrastructure for our critical systems and data * Primary person responsible for all storage devices in our encoding and IT corporate infrastructure (NetApp, BlueArc, Isilon) * Execute detailed performance analysis of storage systems and identify optimal tuning measures to maximize efficiency * Tape rotations * De-duplication design and architecture across offices * Create and maintain documentation of environment design, configuration and workflow * Provide management and support of enterprise storage systems, windows-based and unix-based application and database servers in production and non-production environments * Maintain optimization of environments including upgrades, performance monitoring and system audit tasks * Provide IT Systems and Encoding support as required * Provide end-user support as required * Provide accurate timelines for specific tasks assigned * Offer mentorship to fellow team members and colleagues
Job Requirements:
* 5+ years experience in NetApp storage systems in a complex environment. Isilon and BlueArc preferred but not mandatory * 5+ years experience managing backup systems - Veritas Netbackup and Quantum libraries preferred * Advanced kernel, system, application and storage performance tuning experience * Able to converse in Perl and Shell; other languages welcome * In-depth knowledge of server hardware architecture (Intel) * Expert knowledge of various TCP/IP protocols * Subject matter expert in SAN technologies * Extensive understanding of RAID technologies * Extensive understanding of remote data replication (SRDF, SANCopy, Mirrorview) * Experience with DAS, SAN, NAS, ISCSI, NFS, CIFS, FCP, FCOE * Expert in implementing LUN masking * Expert in applying hypervolumes, metavolumes and related assignments * Must possess a strong ability to document standards, methods and produce drawings of environments * Exceptional team work as well as being able to work under own initiative are highly desired * Take part in 24x7x365 on-call coverage as part of the proactive, production support role Competencies * Business Acumen: Understands business implications of decisions; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals * Customer Service: Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments * Ethics: Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values * Interpersonal Skills: Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control; Remains open to others´ ideas and tries new things * Leadership: Exhibits confidence in self and others; Inspires and motivates others to perform well; Effectively influences actions and opinions of others; Accepts feedback from others; Gives appropriate recognition to others * Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listen and obtain clarification; responds well to questions.

* B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience preferred * Technical certifications preferred
