Our Client's Worldwide Marketing Communications department (Marcom) creates a large amount of high quality customer oriented marketing and communications content, which is delivered across the globe.

The Infrastructure and Applications group within Marcom Technology manages all of the systems (servers, switches, tape libraries, SANs, etc.) and services (web servers, Subversion installation, backup, software packages, etc.) necessary to support Marcom, as well as the development and support of tools used within the department, the company, and by customers.
We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure team which is directly responsible for keeping all Marcom infrastructure operating day-to-day, as well as working proactively to ensure that future business needs will be met.
Working with the Technical Project Manager for Infrastructure, the System Administrator helps maintain, manage and implement infrastructure needed to meet the production, storage, and archival needs of Marcom. The position requires the ability to manage multiple systems, using different infrastructure, simultaneously. A key aspect of this role is the ability to know the infrastructure well enough to anticipate the group's needs and manage tasks in order to meet them.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•Technical implementation and/or ownership for Marcom infrastructure systems.

•Ongoing support for Marcom infrastructure (e.g., servers, SANs, switches, software, tape archive systems, etc.). Monitor operations to ensure proper behavior.

•Design and document system architecture for projects requiring new systems, including configuration of development, test and production systems.

•Be a point of contact for users issues, provide initial troubleshooting for system and network issues.

•Work with the systems administration team to help improve existing architecture, system performance and reliability.

•Work with Corporate IT networking staff to implement new requirements and troubleshoot as needed.

•Ensure systems are properly monitored and backed up.

•Provide documentation and cross training to the rest of the administration team.

•Interpret requirements (from documents and through conversations) to generate potential technical solutions.

•Work with project management team to vet solutions and make concrete proposals.

•Quantify technology solutions' pros & cons, dependencies, and level of effort (magnitude & duration).

•Work with the project manager to communicate status in a timely manner to all stakeholders.

•Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure successful implementation of systems, system upgrades, software upgrades, etc.

Proven Skills and Abilities

•Strong Unix systems administration experience. Familiarity with Mac OS X and AFP.

•Experience using Unix at the command line level.

•Experience with Xsan and RAID systems (Xraid and Promise RAID preferred).

•Knowledge of digital video technologies (including video production workflows) a plus.

•Basic knowledge/understanding of the client server distributed and/or enterprise infrastructure environment.

•Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Perl, PHP, Python, etc.).

•Ability to install and configure web applications (including Apache, PHP and Tomcat/JBoss).

•Java experience a plus.

•Understanding of web load balancing (Foundry experience preferred).

•Experience with LDAP, NFS, and DNS.

•Able to pick-up new skills quickly.

•Familiar with monitoring tool capabilities and implementation of system and application monitors.

•Ability to multitask, willingness to take the initiative to solve problems, and a desire to learn and apply knowledge is required.

•Proven troubleshooting capabilities, able to work under pressure to solve a critical issue.

•Able to work equally well with people in creative and technical positions.

•Able to apply sound judgment while working independently within tight timelines. Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

•Strong oral and written communicator, with good interpersonal skills. Able to forge trusting relationships within a diverse team.

•Able to accurately provide schedule estimates and meet expectations for work commitments.

Requires a minimum of 5+ years experience in a complex enterprise or marketing environment. Looking for someone with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
